Academy-award winning film Brokeback Mountain gets its premier in Durham this week. (February 1)
Durham County Council’s Clayport Library is showing the controversial film, which won three Academy Awards, on Thursday, February 1 at 7.45pm as part of the Clayport Film Club season.
The last film – The Wind that Shakes the Barley directed by Ken Loach – played to a full house.
The season plays on alternate Thursdays and continues until the end of April.
It includes comedies such as Best in Show and The Dish and the classic The Third Man.
The aim of the club is to show a selection of films not usually available in Durham. These include past classics, recent foreign films, films that are not widely shown.
As well as showing modern, alternative cinema, Clayport is continuing its course called Explorations in Silent Cinema with local film historian David Williams.
Films to be explored on the course include Golem, on Tuesday, January 30, followed by Faust and Othello.
