GBH - Reading

Posted: 13/02/2007 20:39:10

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left needing surgery following an attack in a takeaway restaurant.

The incident happened in the Chicken Ranch, in West Street, Reading.

A group of three men walked into the restaurant and immediately began attacking a group of four men who were already inside the restaurant.

One of the victims, a 24-year-old man, was punched to the ground and then kicked several times. He is currently in the RBH with substantial injuries which have required surgery.

PC Edward Lockwood, from Reading police station, said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack which has left a man requiring an operation for his injuries.

“We know that there were people in the restaurant at the time who would have witnessed the attack but who have not yet come forward and I would urge them to speak to me as soon as possible.”

The incident happened at 3.55am on Saturday (10/2).

The offenders are a black man, a man of mixed race and an Asian man, and they are all believed to be between 20 and 25 years old.

The Asian man is around 6ft 2ins and he was wearing a dark coloured jacket. The black man is average height and was wearing a white jacket with a dark blue hood. The mixed race man was wearing a black T-shirt with a blue and red printed logo on the front.

Anyone with any information should contact PC Lockwood via 0845 8 505 505.

Alternatively, please call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
