New Nursery Opening at St Ives Children's Centre
Posted: 01/03/2007 00:55:09
The new nursery at St Ives Children's Centre is set to open in the middle of April providing a full range of childcare for families in the area.
The nursery will be run by Little Seahorses Childcare which was established in 2002 by local husband and wife team Steve and Juli Cooper.
It will provide day care from 8am to 6pm, sessional care and free education places for three and four year-olds* along with wrap around care for children who are attending St Ives Infant School.
The Children's Centre, based behind the town's leisure centre on Trenwith Burrows, offers health services, a range of support for families, a crèche, a toy library, a coffee bar and access to training and employment advice for parents and carers.
It is one of growing number of Children's Centres being developed by Cornwall County Council's Family Services across the county. The aim is that all young children and their families in Cornwall will be able to access Children's Centre facilities by 2010.
Little Seahorses are currently running a high quality care provision for children aged between three months and five years at the centre as well as the popular Out of School provision of Hi-tide Kidz Club for children aged between four and 12 years.
Little Seahorses recently had their first Ofsted Inspection at their new premises and were over the moon to receive "good" in all areas.
Juli Cooper said: "We were delighted to get such a positive inspection, especially as certain facilities, such as the new purpose-designed play area and sensory room, were not yet in action. Steve and I are looking forward to the next inspection when all these projects and the full nursery will be up and running and being used by the children."
The results of the inspection will soon be available on the Ofsted website or at the Nursery.
Children's Centre manager Crin Whelan said: "We are thrilled that Little Seahorses will be opening up in the Spring offering a full range of childcare for families in the St Ives area and expanding the already impressive range of services at our centre."
Little Seahorses will be holding an Open Day on Thursday March 29th where interested families can come to view the nursery facilities and Kidz Club and speak to Juli, Steve and members of their team.
