Appeal for witnesses - Newbury

Posted: 12/03/2007 16:30:59

Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of incidents in Victoria Park, Newbury last week.

Two boys were walking along the canal near The Wharf when 5-6 boys approached them at around 7.45pm last Tuesday (6/3). They stole tobacco off them and one youth head butted one of the boys twice and stole a glove from his pocket.

PC Chris Eaton, investigating the incident, said: “The youths were all believed to be drunk. The main offender is around 17-years-old, about 5ft 8ins tall and slim-medium build with short blond spiky hair. He was wearing a light blue zip-up tracksuit top, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

“On the same night we also received two reports from dog owners that their dogs were kicked by a youth in a group of about 6 boys who were all drinking in Victoria Park around 7.30pm.

“I am keen to identify this group of boys and would like to speak to anyone who saw the boys in the park or who witnessed any of the incidents to contact me.”

Anyone with any information should contact PC Eaton at Newbury police station via 0845 8 505 505.
