Man Arrested After Fatal Crash Near Northleach

A man has been arrested after a fatal road traffic collision occurred on the A40 Northleach by-pass during the evening of Wednesday May 23rd.

At approximately 5.30pm a silver Ford Focus, driven by a 50 year-old man from Witney, Oxfordshire, was in collision with a blue Suzuki motorbike, ridden by a 40 year-old man from Hucclecote, Gloucester.

Emergency services attended and the motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene. The coroner has been informed of the death.

The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries until July 22.

Following the crash the A40 was closed at the Northleach roundabout until 11.20pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them on 0845 090 1234, quoting incident number 410 of May 23rd.
