Nuborn spectacular at Fairford
Posted: 24/02/2006 16:00:01
School age rock stars take to the stage in Fairford's first Nuborn band showcase at the Fairford Leisure Centre on Sunday, March 5th.
The event, featuring performance by students aged 10 to 16, follows hot on the heels of the success of the first Nuborn night in Cirencester.
First up is Fairford band, Strive, whose heavy drumming and strong guitar play will make a great opening act.
Cotswold District Council Events Officer Rik Husdan said: "This band has worked hard to get where they are now and have the songs, the personality and the attitude to make this Nuborn into a spectacular event."
Following Strive is a band with a unique hard rock sound. Red Noise - Pete Walker, Joe Milnthorpe, Lawrence Killham on guitars, John Mander singing and Will Woodward behind drums - are ready to show Fairford what they are made of. Their influences range from Nirvana, Guns n Roses, Scorpions, Staind and Led Zeppelin.
The Cardinals, on third, have already had the opportunity to play their punk rock in Cheltenham. With influences from Babyshambles to The Clash, their sound and punk rock style is taken from bands such as The Jam and The Libertines.
Rik said: "If ever there was a name to bring back some hard rock into Fairford, it's MP5, our fourth band. Their musical style can be described as rock, rock, rock with strong guitar rhythms. With influences taken from Guns n Roses, Pearl Jam to My Chemical Romance, MP5 is a band you will want to put on your MP3."
Headlining this event is Fairford band, No Need. The band has been together for just two months, but have 15 years playing and singing experience between them. Their influences vary from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Velvet Underground and Arctic Monkeys to heavy bands such as Pantera, Black Label Society, and Sabbath.
Rik added: "All in all they have enough talent and taste in music to give Fairford Nuborn a great finish. It's going to be a night to remember!"
Doors open at Fairford Leisure Centre at 6.15 for a prompt start at 6.30pm. Tickets are £2.00 adults / £1 U16's and are available on the door only.
