Neighbourhood Watch open meeting

Posted: 17/07/2007 18:43:19

Residents are invited to an open meeting of Ascot Neighbourhood Watch to learn about the benefits of joining the organisation.

At the meeting on 25 July in King Edward Hall, off Fernbank Road, North Ascot, the public will be able to find out how joining Neighbourhood Watch can help them keep their homes and families safer.

Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, Jeff Pick, said: “Come along and see that NW is not an old fuddy-duddy, curtain-twitching group, but something that would be really useful to join. We have the police there to chat to; I will be there to answer questions, and all sorts of other people who will be able to help you with all sorts of issues.”

The open meetings, which are held once a quarter, feature a speaker who can add to the knowledge of Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators and members of their schemes. This time the speaker will be Jackie Murdoch from Thames Valley Police’s Intelligence Bureau, who will talk about distraction burglaries.

Previous speakers have covered restorative justice, drugs, doorstep selling, victim support and E-fits.

Police officers from Ascot will give an update of current crimes and issues, and answer questions. Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators will talk about current crime trends and crime prevention.

Tea and coffee will be served at 7.30 pm and the meeting will start at 8 pm.
