Woodley Neighbourhood Policing update - August
Posted: 15/08/2007 16:54:29
Here is the latest Woodley Neighbourhood Policing update from Neighbourhood Specialist Officer (NSO) PC Jen Banfield:
In my last report I spoke about the new Street Art Wall that has been put up in Woodford Park.
Im delighted to report that this venture is proving to be a great success in fact there have been no reported incidents of graffiti in Woodley since the wall was unveiled in early July.
This is great news for residents, as early in the year the area was being hit by a spate of graffiti with tags covering trees, walls and street furniture. The problem seems to be under control and, together with Woodley Town Council, we are now applying for a grant that would enable us to buy three more walls.
Some residents may have seen in the local press that we recently had an incident of indecent exposure in Ashenbury Park.
This is a popular area for dog walkers and we understand this incident may have put some people off going into the area. So, the Woodley Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) are offering guided dog walks for lone women.
This gives them a chance to have a chat and feel safe and we are currently doing about two of these walks a week with posters in the park detailing times.
Another development that will interest residents is that Woodley Precinct is about to get no cycling signs painted on the ground at each entrance. From September 3, cyclists will be given a £30 Fixed Penalty Notice if they are seen riding in the area.
This initiative is being brought about in partnership with Woodley Town Council and the Woodley Town Centre Manager and will help to provide a safer and more user friendly shopping environment.
Finally, the next neighbourhood policing surgery takes place on August 22, between 7-9pm. This is a good opportunity for residents to come along to the Oakwood Centre, meet the team and discuss any issues or concerns they may have.
Look forward to seeing you then.
