Witney Town Annual Christmas Lights Switch-On 2007
Posted: 14/11/2007 13:14:20
Witney Christmas Lights is THE one to be at again this year! Friday 30th November, The Market Square, Witney.
The event will be kicking off at 4.30pm where Father Christmas’s reindeer will be there for children to pet, they will be situated underneath the Town Hall canopy ready to take children’s letters to Father Christmas. In addition a children’s fair will be located in the Market Place to keep the little-ones entertained. For the hungry there will be a huge Pig Roast from 5.00pm until the last bite of crackling has disappeared.
The evening’s entertainment will start with local and highly popular heavy rock band – the Dirty Earth Band – playing live on stage from 5.00pm with their now famous range of Christmas sing-a-longs. Your Master of Ceremonies, live on stage is Peter Rhodes-Brown of Oxford United Football Club!
At the same time the Corn Exchange will play host to a Christmas Fayre where there will be various charity stalls, The Model Club, the Voice Box Choir and Father Christmas. And if you get peckish there will be mulled wine and stollen bites available – and lots lots more!
John Lowe, Eric Bristow, Keith Deller and Cliff Lazarenko – all former World Darts Champions together with David Cameron will be turning this year's Christmas Lights on in the Market Square at 6.30pm.
The Christmas Parade will make its way up from Welch Way at 6.00pm with a legion of top of the range tri-bikes and motorbikes and John, Eric, Keith and Cliff riding pillion. Father Christmas and the Winter Princess will lead the parade. The Dirty Earth Band will continue on the stage and the Lantern Competition will be judged. At 7pm when the stage performances finish, events will continue in the Corn Exchange.
