Future thinking on Weobley Library

Posted: 03/03/2008 17:04:02

Following the community consultation regarding the services at Weobley library
an undertaking was given that Herefordshire Libraries would communicate their thinking on future plans for the library in Weobley.

An open public meeting was held at Weobley Library on Friday, February 21st 2008.

Taking into account the findings of the consultation, the Herefordshire Librariesí strategy and the available resources these proposals were made for the library service in Weobley.

* The library will remain in its current location. Improvements will be made to the heating, external lighting and some improvement work done to the structure of the building.
* There will be no change to the opening hours. The request for Saturday opening was acknowledged and might be considered at future date if resources become available.
* New, moveable shelving will be purchased to enable use of the library space by the community eg for use by Weobley History Society for study days and lectures.
* Existing public access computers to be replaced by new models.
* Any future decision making for the library will involve community consultation through annual consultation days with representative groups and the wider community

The session illustrated the commitment of the Herefordshire Libraries to the library in Weobley and met with approval from those present at the meeting.
