Carterton Neighbourhood Management Update - March

Posted: 10/03/2008 17:55:50

Neighbourhood Specialist Officer PC Richard Barnes has this month’s update:

“The team is back up to full strength with PCSO Angela Alford now off light duties and back on her Bampton area full time.”

Carterton and surrounding villages
PCSO Sara Holmes
“The team has continued its hi-vis late patrols over the weekend which resulted in some alcohol seizures; however the evenings are still relatively quiet. Several attempts have been made to siphon petrol from tanks and we shall be keeping an eye on this.

“In relation to the serious assault that occurred in Carterton town centre on Saturday 9 February, four males aged between 15 and 17 years old have been arrested and released on bail.

“One male has been arrested and charged with a burglary that occurred in December, as well as five counts of fraud.

“On Friday 15 February we carried out an underage drinking operation which was deemed a success as there was only one alcohol seizure and very few youths out that evening.

“We are pleased to report that an under 16’s disco at the football club passed without incident.

“The new neighbourhood team posters have been handed out to all the shops in Carterton and placed on the noticeboards.

“The local schools have been visited and given information packs following the launch of School Watch.

“The team has started visiting local farms to inform them of the re-launch of Country Watch in West Oxfordshire. Anyone who lives or works in our countryside is invited to attend the launch on Thursday 17 April at Blenheim Palace. Please telephone the organiser for further details and to book your place on 01993 861640.”

Burford and surrounding area
PCSO Petra Summers
“Burford has seen three cases of graffiti and investigations are underway.

“There are regular hi-vis patrols in the Guildenford car park, particularly in the evening, and alcohol has been seized from teenagers here.

“Parking issues around the school have improved but regular patrols in the area maintain this situation.”

Bampton and surrounding area
PCSO Angela Alford
“Alvescot Parish council meeting was held on Wednesday 20 February and PCSO Alford was able to meet a number of residents and possibly secure a new Neighbourhood Action Group member.

“Visits have been made to all of the primary schools to meet with pupils and staff so that the PCSOs become familiar faces.

“A small number of neighbour issues have arisen in Clanfield and these have been dealt with successfully.

“Ongoing enquiries continue in Bampton relating to graffiti and criminal damage at the church.

“Below is a list of surgeries that PCSO Alford will be holding for residents to come and meet her for a chat or to discuss any concerns. They will all take place at the town hall from 10am until midday.
