Witness Appeal over Serious RTC near Craven Arms

Posted: 12/05/2008 18:51:27

Police are appealing for witnesses after two people were seriously injured following a collision between a car and a motorcycle near Craven Arms.

The crash happened on the B4368 about a mile and a half east of the town towards Much Wenlock at about 12.50pm yesterday(MAY 11).

It involved a blue Suzuki motorbike and a silver Crysler Grand Voyager people carrier.

The rider of the bike, a man believed to be in his 40s, suffered seriously leg injuries and was air lifted to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A pillion passenger on the bike, a boy believed to be about 11 years old, also suffered serious leg injuries. His condition was today described as stable after also being airlifted, but to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Constable Steve Clarke, who is investigating the circumstances of the crash, today appealed for anyone who might have witnessed the collision or either vehicle beforehand to get in touch.

He said: “Both the rider and pillion passenger suffered serious injuries but are today believed to be in stable conditions in hospital. The driver of the car was not injured.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who might have witnessed the crash or who saw the bike being ridden or the car being driven immediately beforehand to please get in touch with police on 08457 444888.

“The car was travelling towards Much Wenlock and the bike in the opposite direction towards Craven Arms.”

The road was closed until just before 6pm while police collision investigators worked at the scene, the vehicles were recovered and debris cleared from the carriageway. Diversion were put in place at the time.
