Public services come together in Ross on Wye

Posted: 06/01/2009 20:41:37

Ross on Wye’s library building will be undergoing some exciting changes in the coming two years, which will bring local services and the library together in one building.

Info in Herefordshire, the council’s centre for information on local services, will be moving from Swan House to the library building and the library’s facilities will be updated and improved. The building will be extended, refurbished and changed internally to accommodate both services and provide better access for local residents.

Herefordshire Council will be putting plans for the project on display in January and is keen to gather comments from local residents. The plans have been produced in line with available budgets with input from both the library and Info services.

The design and plans will be available for public consultation from January 21st to February 3rd at the library, info office at Swan House, Market House Heritage Centre and the Ross Town Council. Members of the library service and info service will be available to talk through the plans at special surgeries, which will be advertised in the New Year.

Councillor Adrian Blackshaw, cabinet member for economic development and community services, said: “We want to update our buildings and it makes economic sense for residents to be able to access services and information from one site. We want to make sure we get it right for local users and hope to gain lots of comments which we can feed back into the design brief.”
