Children’s Centre extends opening hours
Posted: 18/03/2009 10:54:01
As the county begins to enjoy lighter evenings again and spring is in the air, Ross on Wye’s Children’s Centre at the Ryefield Centre has decided to keep its doors open for longer by staying open until 7pm once a week.
At the same time, the centre needs help with a gardening project and is calling for as many pairs of hands as possible to help improve the existing garden by building a sensory play area and vegetable patch. The intention is to use what the centre grows for cookery sessions planned for later in the year.
The new opening time applies every Thursday from April 30 to coincide with the gardening project and will last throughout the summer months.
Carole Harris, children’s centre manager, said: “We thought this was the ideal time to open our doors for longer. We are hoping to get lots of people involved in the gardening project, including children who love planting seeds and watching them grow. We’re hoping the extended hours will encourage some new families to come along and see what’s on offer at the children’s centre too.
“Many families with children under the age of five years already attend groups at the centre during the day between 9am-5pm. This is a great opportunity for those who may be at work during the day to come and join us, or for existing centre users to develop their creative skills in the garden.”
Further information is available from the Ryefield Centre on 01989 760 912.
