Dursley Festival cooks up a recipe for success!!

Posted: 16/06/2009 22:25:16

The preparations for the Dursley Festival which runs from 9:30am on Saturday 11th July 2009 are well under way.

The theme for this year is ‘FOOD’ and the festival has created an exciting partnership with the LOVE FOOD festival. Working with LOVE FOOD, the organisers are busy encouraging local producers, shops and businesses to get involved in the day. There will be stalls selling a variety of things from herbs to pancakes. The team are giving priority to producers from Dursley and surrounding areas, as well as introducing new things to the already diverse choice.

Some of the exciting food and stalls already confirmed are Bristol’s The Real Olive Company, Cam based independent brewers Severn Ales, Absolutely Cakes from Bristol and local meat supplier Clayton Meats.

There will also be a traditional barbeque with straw bales, a juice bar and Dursley Diner will be serving crepes. This is just a taste of some of the wonderful produce that will be on offer on the day.

So the team are keen to hear from anyone that would like to have a stall at the event. The cost of a pitch is very good value and all proceeds go towards paying for other aspects of the festival such as the children’s area and of course, making sure that the festival continues in the future.

Lorna Knapman of Love Food Festivals believes that -

“Food is the basis of everything. From shopping for or indeed growing it, through to cooking, understanding the goodness it provides, and how and with whom we eat. If everyone started buying locally, cooking from scratch, and then eating together with friends and families, imagine the impact that would have on the economy, the environment and on society. ”

Remember variety is the spice of life so if you have got a food or produce business and think that Dursley needs a taste of it then get involved.

People interested in having a stall can find information and an application form on the brand new Dursley Festival website www.dursleyfestival.co.uk or email the team at dursleyfestival@googlemail.com.

And organisers hope that whilst eating their way through the day, visitors to the event will also enjoy the live music, the children’s activities, the activities on the recreation ground, and all the other family fun that the festival has to offer.
