Local Artist Turns Kingham Plough Pink
Posted: 18/03/2010 15:59:22
Artist Jeremy Houghton and The Kingham Plough will be celebrating all things pink on Thursday May 6th 2010. An exhibition of Flamingo paintings in both oil and watercolour will be on display at The Kingham Plough with pink drinks and canapés. Guests are invited to view the exhibition from 6 – 8.30pm in the upstairs dining room.
Flamingos cover every square inch of Jeremy’s canvasses. This collection is inspired by his days in Africa when he was Head of Art at the International school of Cape Town, from 2000 – 2005. These paintings reflect exciting days in the heart of this great continent, where nature seems to be both bold and beautiful.
Jeremy now lives and works in the house where he was born in Broadway, where he is helping to organise this summer inaugural Broadway arts festival, and running his Broadway art tours. He has been chosen as one of Lloyds Banks’ artists for London 2012 and is also known for his commissioned work featuring timeless scenes from around the Cotswolds.
Jeremy said: “‘Flamingos are such elegant birds, with such breath taking colours. But get them in a crowd, which you generally do, and it’s quite difficult to see what belongs to what. Whose leg is that? And that? And whose head is that? An orgy of pink, not for the faint hearted, which is why Jeremy Clarkson has one hanging on his wall.”
Mark Savage M.W. of Savage Selection, a renowned wine merchant based in Northleach that specialises in shipping wines from small, artisan estates across the world, will be supplying three pink wines for tasting and seasonal canapés will be on offer to accompany and compliment Jeremy’s paintings.
Emily Watkins, owner and Executive Chef at The Kingham Plough said; “We source the majority of our ingredients from nearby artisans to maintain our ethos of producing local seasonal dishes. It therefore seems particularly fitting that the first art exhibition hosted by The Kingham Plough involves a local artist. An evening of flamingos, rose and canapés will be an exciting way to herald in the summer.’
