Children’s centre to run craft and activity sessions

Posted: 28/07/2011 09:03:44

Herefordshire Council’s Ledbury Children’s Centre is to run three craft and activity sessions during the summer holidays.

The sessions, aimed at children aged five to eleven years, will take place at the Children’s Centre on three Thursdays – 4th August, 18th August and 1st September and will run from 1:30 to 3pm. It is also a great opportunity for parents and carers to come together and join in the fun too.

Ledbury Town Council has given a grant for the sessions to be held and activities on offer will include tee-shirt painting, collages using outdoor materials and jewellery making.

In conjunction with the NHS Herefordshire ‘Change For Life’ scheme, the sessions will include games and play equipment in order to encourage the children to be active. Games of rounders and badminton will be played as well as a chance to take part in obstacle races or ball play.

Kim Gristy, Ledbury Children’s Centre manager, said: “I would like to very much thank Ledbury Town Council for their financial support to allow these sessions to take place which will not only ensure youngsters have a fun time but will also encourage them to take part in sport which is a key legacy aim of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“Sessions will be free, offering a boost to parents during the long summer holiday, but all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Children will also be provided with a healthy snack. If you would like more information, please contact the Children’s Centre on 01432 383840,” she added.
