Improved play area a step closer for Eynsham
Posted: 23/04/2012 17:50:26
Major improvements at Eynsham’s Oxford Road play area will be completed during the summer. The play area will be given a new lease of life after West Oxfordshire District Council and Eynsham Parish Council secured funding from two new housing developments in the village to add to the Parish Council's existing play area budget. Work on the new park will begin soon and includes a 25 metre zip-wire, large sandpit area with sit-on digger, ground-level trampoline, mounds with bridge and slide, seating and more. The new equipment has been carefully selected to cater for children and young people and will be supplied by Blakedown Sport and Play. The company has a reputation for high quality, safe, challenging and interactive playgrounds. The equipment was chosen following consultation by Eynsham Parish Council with the local community and Thames Valley Police and Oxfordshire Playing Fields Association. The total cost of the play area will be just over £140,000. Eynsham Parish Clerk Malcolm Anderson said: “Local residents came up with plenty of suggestions for the play area and we’ve tried to take on board lots of these ideas. The park will cater for a range of ages and hopefully encompasses all the elements that the youngsters will enjoy. “It has been fantastic to have had the support and assistance of West Oxfordshire District Council. I’m sure the park will be brilliant and provide a great place where youngsters can meet and play together.” Martin Holland, Leisure Services Manager at West Oxfordshire District Council: "This very exciting project has been achieved through working in partnership with Eynsham Parish Council. The play area is being developed to meet the needs of both new and existing residents." Once completed the park will be managed and maintained by Eynsham Parish Council.
