Gray's Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast
Chosen by Country Living for its very first selection of favourite Rural Retreats, Gray’s Farmhouse has since featured in the Sunday Telegraph travel section and in “Dorset Magazine” as well as appearing in Alastair Sawday’s prestigious “Special Places to Stay”. Recently they gained 99% in the Mystery Shoppers’ survey commissioned by the National Skills Academy- which they were told was the highest score awarded to date.
The farmhouse has stripped floors, massive flagstones, old oak beams, and in winter a blazing log fire welcomes you in the lovely dining room, a converted apple store that looks down across the idlyllic grounds to a stream. At other times of year breakfast is eaten in the lovely conservatory. Throughout the house the walls, painted in National Trust or hand-blended colours, are hung with Rosie’s vibrant paintings many of which are for sale.
Breakfast includes fresh fruit juices, fruit, fruit compote and yoghourts, a choice of breads including home-baked white and wholemeal with nuts and seeds, home-made preserves, croissants, scrambled egg with smoked salmon, locally smoked kippers, or English Breakfast using locally sourced food as much as possible.
The simply furnished bedrooms are deeply peaceful and have goose-down duvets*, Egyptian cotton sheets, and "en suite" bath or shower room. There is flat-sceen digital TV + DVD, with easy chairs, hot drinks tray, and water from their own spring that recent guests described as "ambrosia."
Adjoining the bedrooms there is a tiny "snug" with easy chairs that they have tried to set up with everything they can think of for your pleasure or convenience: ideally placed if you cannot sleep at night. There is internet access, a fridge, basin, picnic things, iron and board, local guide books, maps, novels, magazines, copious information on local walks, activities and places to eat, radio, CDs, DVDs, cards, scrabble, chess and other games. They hope you will find something there to enhance you stay!
The Granary
The Granary is a charming country B and B with an exquisite classic cottage garden in a peaceful hamlet just north of Bridport. Maggie provides delicious locally-sourced breakfasts, a warm welcome, and plenty of enthusiasm and knowledge to help you get the most out of your visit to this lovely corner of West Dorset

Of course for those of you who wish we are only a short drive to shopping centres such as Exeter, Yeovil, Dorchester, and of course Weymouth - home of the 2012 Olympic Games sailing events.
