Officers in the Forest Organise Clubbing Event
Posted: 31/01/2007 15:03:54
Officers in the Forest of Dean have teamed up with Coleford nightclub Magnums for a special under 18s clubbing event. The evening is a spin-off of the successful Prom Nights previously organised for local teenagers by Forest Police and Magnums' licensee Barry Stokes. Local bands Syren, English Immigrants and Multicoloured Mayhem will provide explosive sets on the night and the club's in-house DJ will also take to the decks throughout the evening ensuring that everybody's musical tastes will be catered for. Local Police Officers PC Rob Dix and PC Nick Browning as well as Police Community Support Officers and parents of teenagers playing in the bands will staff the evening. "The main aim of the event is for the teenagers to enjoy themselves in a safe environment," explains PC Rob Dix "From a policing standpoint it will continue to provide local officers with opportunities to develop positive relationships with the youth of the Forest area, and provide a ready platform from which to address important issues such as drug and alcohol misuse along with personal safety," he added. PC Dix continued: "Our young people are the adults and parents of tomorrow. From our efforts in the past and hopefully more events in the future we are endeavoring to build relationships with our community especially now that Neighborhood Policing is clearly on the agenda" There will be a strict no alcohol and no smoking policy but soft drinks and snacks will be available during event that will take place during half term on Thursday, February 22 (7pm - 11pm). Cost of entry will be £3.00 on the door and all profit from the evening will go to the Coleford Music Festival.
