Police Appeal for Witnesses to Air Crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to an air crash that happened at Moreton in Marsh during the afternoon of Sunday December 18.

The incident occurred at around 12.26pm when it is believed two light aircraft collided in the sky above Moreton. One of the planes, a Cessna light aircraft, came down in the grounds of the Fire Service Training College in Moreton.

The pilot, a 34 year-old man from Coventry, died at the scene as a result of injuries he sustained.

The second aircraft was able to land safely near the college despite being damaged.

Neither the pilot of the second plane, a man from Hawling, or his male passenger sustained serious injuries during the incident.

The Gloucestershire coroner has since been informed of the death and air accident experts are investigating.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Gloucestershire police on 0845 090 1234, quoting incident number 219 of December 18.
