Swindon stabbing update
Posted: 15/02/2007 21:14:54
This is a news update, following the stabbing in Swindon during the early hours of this morning, Thursday 15th February 2007.
The victim is a 45 year old man, whom, we believe, lives nearby to Swindon. We have been unable to establish his marital status, or whether he has family.
The exact location of the stabbing is also uncertain. We believe it occurred in the Manchester Road area, but equally, it may well have been County Road, or the Corporation Street areas but following the assault, the victim knocked on the doors of a café in Manchester Road, near to the Tap and Barrel public house.
The victim received 3 stab wounds, has been taken to the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, where his condition is described as critical.
Detective Chief Inspector Bob HAMLIN is leading the enquiry into how the victim came by his injuries and is appealing for help from the public. He said, “The full circumstances surrounding this incident are still unclear, and we have been unable to talk to the victim because of his critical condition in hospital. I am looking to the public for help in trying to establish exactly what happened.”
The appeal at this time is as follows:-
1. Anyone who was in the Manchester Road/County Road areas at about 2.40a.m. this morning, and who has not already spoken to the Police, to contact us as a matter of urgency for elimination purposes.
2. Anyone who may have been working as a taxi driver in the area, and who has not already spoken to us, to contact us.
3. Anyone who was in this area at the time, and who may well have seen an argument or altercation taking place.
4. Anyone with knowledge or any person with heavily bloodstained clothing, or unexplained injuries
to contact us as a matter of urgency on 0845 408 7000, or if preferred, anonymous information may be left by ringing Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
