Serious assault – Oxford

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in Oxford city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning (18/02).

Between midnight and 12.20am at the junction of New Inn Hall Street and George Street, an argument developed between a 26-year-old man and two other men over a cigarette.

He was attacked and received several punches to the face. When he fell to the floor he was then kicked in the head. He was taken for treatment at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

• Two men – aged 23 and 20 – were arrested at 12.40am on 18 February for GBH and have been bailed pending further investigations until 28 March.
