Bicester dog walkers could have information

Posted: 19/03/2007 10:40:36

Police are appealing for three dog walkers to get in touch after a woman was sexually assaulted in a park in Bicester last night (17/03).

The 34-year-old victim was walking her brown and white Spaniel Collie cross in the park near Aspen Close, Southwold, between 10pm and 11pm, when the incident happened.

Detectives are keen to speak to some other people who the victim remembers seeing in the park prior to the assault; a woman with a white Highland Terrier and a couple; a man and a woman, who both had a dog and who stopped whilst all three dogs interacted.

DI Phil Murphy, leading the investigation, said: “We ask these people to get in touch as they could have crucial information and we would like to speak to anyone else in the park or nearby during this time period.

“The victim was wearing a light grey waterproof walking jacket and black jeans. If you saw her or witnessed anything which could be connected, I urge you to contact me as soon as possible.”

The offender is white, around 18-years-old, slim with short fair hair. He was wearing a dark baseball cap and a dark hooded top. He spoke with a West Country accent and is believed to have been drinking.

Anyone with any information should contact DI Murphy via the 24-hour police enquiry centre on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, if you don’t wish to speak to police or leave your name, contact the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
