Police road check a week after murder
Posted: 31/03/2007 13:22:06
Exactly a week following the murder of Enayit Khalili, police stopped motorists near to the scene of the crime in Oxford to appeal for information.
Motorists were stopped by officers between 4pm yesterday afternoon and 4am this morning (31/3).
Some 400 flyers were handed to motorists appealing for any information about Enayit and the weeks, days, and hours leading up to his death. Motorists were also asked if they had driven through the area the previous week and seen anything at all which could help the police find Enayit’s killer.
Enayit was found severely injured at about 3:30am on Saturday 24 March at his home on Fiennes Road in Rose Hill. He died the following night.
Det Sup George Turner said: “I would like to thank the motorists we stopped for their help and cooperation with us. This murder has shocked the community and we will work tirelessly to find out who murdered Enayit Khalili.
“We spoke to a lot of people last night and are now working through that information to find any new leads in the investigation.
“I am very encouraged by the response we had last night.”
If you have information then please contact Det Supt Turner via 0845 8 505 505. If you do not wish to speak to police or give your name you can call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
