Yellow burglar alarm causes problems in Stow
Posted: 02/03/2006 19:02:13
Planners have ordered the owner of a furniture shop in Stow-on-the-Wold to remove his yellow burglar alarm or paint it a similar colour to the costwold stone building because it is not in keeping with the picturesque Cotswold village.
Quentin Thomas who owns the upmarket furniture shop in Stow has also been told that he needs to remove most of the signs on the outside of the Grade II listed building.
But a quick look around at the other buildings in the immediate area reveals more yellow alarm boxes attached to other budilings and it remains to be seen if all owners in the area will be asked to camouflage their alarms. So much for an alarm box being a visible deterrent!
