Commendation for Kidderminster Local Policing Team

Posted: 28/08/2007 18:51:44

Kidderminster town centre's Local Policing team has been commended.

Sergeant Louise Meeson, Local Police Officer PC Clive Llewellyn, former CSO Lee Hanson and town officers PCs Garry Burns, Jamie Holloway, Lloyd Davies and Carol Davenport received the commendation at Force Performance Group on Thursday 23rd August for their continued professional and committed approach to making Kidderminster an even safer place to live and visit.

The citation said the team was commended for continued and sustained high performance in reducing the number of crimes, delivering exceptional detection rates, and fostering strong relationships with partners and the community.

The efforts of the team in 2006-07 led to a 28 per cent drop in overall crime and an 88 per cent detection rate for theft offences.

This level of performance has continued into 2007-08 with an overall crime detection rate of 50 per cent, and violent crime of more than 62 per cent.

The team's work with both community safety partners and the business community to reduce crime and disorder was recently recognised with the awarding of the Safer Business Award and a Safer Car Park Award for the Swan Centre, and work continues to improve the other car parks.

The team are also responsible for managing and policing regular civic parades and events, which have received praise from local dignitaries.

Chief Inspector Jim Baker said: "The Kidderminster Local Policing Team are highly visible and many of them are well known to shopkeepers, store assistants, security staff and doorstaff.

"Working closely with organisations such as KRISP (Kidderminster Retail Initiative Security Partnership), they put in a great deal of hard work to make Kidderminster town centre a safe and pleasant place to shop and socialise, and this commendation is thoroughly deserved.

"My congratulations go to the entire team."
