All systems grow at Malvern Spring Gardening Show
Posted: 06/05/2008 17:57:26
The show garden being created by West Mercia Constabulary and by pupils from Adcote School, Shropshire is just a few plants short of completion as the opening day of the Malvern Spring Gardening Show approaches.
The garden, which was designed by pupils from Adcote School, Shrewsbury has been created to celebrate the force’s 40th anniversary and reflects the way life and society have changed over the past four decades.
The West Mercia Constabulary 40th anniversary garden in association with Adcote School contrasts the look and gardening styles of a police house in 1967 with a house belonging to a present day police officer. Alongside each garden will be a police car and bike from the respective eras.
Visitors to the Malvern Spring Gardening Show will be able to discuss a range of topics such as garden and home security issues, joining the Special Constabulary and local policing, with police officers, who will be available every day at a stand next to the show garden, which is situated near the members’ pavilion.
Pupils from Adcote School will also be at the show to talk to visitors about the garden design and the plants they have incorporated into it.
Mrs Louise Hudson, Head of Geography and in charge of the gardening club at Adcote School in Shrewsbury, said:
“After several weeks of hard work by the girls from Adcote School and the West Mercia Constabulary the show garden is nearly complete.
“We’re all really looking forward to the start of the show on Thursday and hope that people will take the time to visit the garden West Mercia Constabulary and Adcote School have created.”
Stephen Grundy, Corporate Communications Manager at West Mercia Constabulary, said: “Having a show garden at the Malvern Spring Gardening Show will enable people to find out more about West Mercia Constabulary and the services we provide to communities across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire.
“West Mercia police officers will be hand every day to give advice on a range of policing matters. Visitors will also be able to pick up a copy of the force’s garden security leaflet ‘Tips to Nip Garden Crime in the Bud’. “
