Pedal in the Park is back

Worcestershire County Council is reminding residents that Pedal in the Park is returning to Gheluvelt Park in Worcester next week.
Worcester’s premier family fun cycling day, offers hours of free action-packed cycling related activities, and will take place on Saturday, July 19 from 10am until 4pm.
Last year saw more than 2,500 residents enjoy the first Pedal in the Park and the County Council’s ‘Choose how you move’ team is hoping that even more people turn out to Gheluvelt Park this time around.
Councillor Derek Prodger MBE, Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: “Pedal in the Park is a fantastic family day out offering two wheeled entertainment for all ages. Cycling offers health benefits, helps to reduce traffic congestion, can save people money and is a great family activity. I would encourage as many people as possible to go to Pedal in the Park to find out more.”
Details of the Pedal in the Park activities are as follows:
MAD Mountain Bike Stunt Team The UK’s top mountain bike stunt display team are back for their second year. Bike fancy dress competition Children can turn their bike into a dinosaur, spaceship or even a butterfly and win one of two family days out, courtesy of the West Midlands Safari Park. Everybody who enters will receive a cycling goody bag. Children should take their decorated bike along to Pedal in the Park at 11am. Bikes will be judged at 11.30am and the winners announced at 12pm. Age categories: under eights and eight to 11-year-olds.
X-Treme Movie Tent Pedal in the Park has teamed up with the film distributor X-Treme Video to show two of the most influential mountain bike movies ever made for free.
Roam (U) depicts the travels of some of the world’s top riders with breathtaking scenery and awe-inspiring riding – showing at 12pm and 2pm.
The Collective (U) is an award winning film created by a group of film makers, photographers and riders all pushing the boundaries of cycling and cinematography - showing at 1pm and 3pm. Get Cycling Roadshow Residents can try out 25 bikes ranging from the practical to the peculiar. Mountain Bike Challenge Course Budding cyclists can test their off-road biking skills with the challenging mountain bike course. Guided Family Cycle Ride A ten-mile guided cycle ride around north Worcester (under 16-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult, 11am start). Dr Bike Free cycle safety checks and minor repairs to people’s bikes. Other activities include, Roller Racing, police bike marking, a climbing wall and bungee trampolines and secure bike parking.
People will also be able to receive a free cycling goody bag by filling in a questionnaire at Pedal in the Park and be entered in a prize draw to win a Kona Smoke Hybrid.
