Areley Kings PACT meeting
Posted: 22/01/2009 17:52:23
Police and partners are urging local residents to go along to the next Areley Kings PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meeting.
This will take place at 7pm on Monday 26 January at Walshes Community Centre in Linden Avenue, Stourport-on-Severn.
Those attending will be able to hear updates on issues raised as priorities at the last meeting. These include concerns about the timing of parking restriction in Princess Way and Jackson Crescent, a proposal for a lettings policy to be implemented on the Walshes estate, queries about the new police base planned for the Walshes estate and also the feasibility of CCTV in the area.
Officers will also be giving feedback at the PACT meeting about the EVAs - Environmental Visual Audits – being conducted on the Walshes estate. Two groups, one from St Batholomew’s Primary School and a second from the Tenants Consultative Committee, have been provided with disposable cameras and are being asked to take pictures to illustrate what they like and do not like about the area.
Their photographs will be on display at the following PACT meeting which will take place at St Bartholomew’s School at 7pm on Monday 23rd March so that everyone can appreciate what matters within the local community and what can be done to improve the neighbourhood and the quality of life for those living there.
Local Policing Officer for Areley Kings PC Andy Brooks-Davies says, “We want to be sure that we are addressing the issues that matter most locally and we hope that this visual audit will give us an important insight into what concerns particular groups and a wider cross section of the community.
“We’re optimistic that the photos on display at the March PACT meeting will spark some lively discussion and that people will come along to have a look and to add their opinions on how we can work together to make changes for the better.”
Police say that everyone is welcome to attend either meeting and that more details are available online at www.westmercia.police.uk under the Local Policing heading.
