Two Bull Dogs Stolen from Melverley

Posted: 11/03/2009 15:26:59

Police are appealing for information after two dogs were discovered missing, believed stolen, from a property in a village near Oswestry.

The two female bull dogs were taken from the address in Melverley between about 7.30pm on Saturday(MAR 7) and 12.30am on Sunday(MAR 8), while the owners’ were out.

One of the animals is pregnant and due to give birth in the next week or so.

Constable Kevin Roberts, of Oswestry Police, said the owners strongly believed the dogs had been stolen as there was no way for them to escape their outdoor pen on their own.

“They are understandable very upset and worried about their pets and I would urge anybody with information about the animals to contact police on 0300 333 3000,” he said.

“One of the dogs, which is called Nellie, is two years old has a white face and red body. It was wearing a red collar with little silver bones on and is due to give birth to puppies in the next week or so.

“The other dog is called Daisy Boo and is three years old. It is white with a few red patches on its back and is not wearing a collar, which was left behind at the scene.

“Anybody who might be offered these dogs for sale or, over the coming weeks, any bull dog puppies for sale under dubious circumstances is asked to contact Oswestry Police on 0300 333 3000.

“I am also keen to hear from anybody who might have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Melverley area, such as persons hanging around or unfamiliar vehicles, during that night.

“Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, where a reward is sometimes offered.”
