All change at Weobley Primary School
Posted: 18/03/2009 10:54:41
Children, parents and governors at Weobley Primary School will being saying farewell to their head teacher, Geoff Williams, at this end of this term when he retires after 20 years of service at the school.
More than 100 friends, including former pupils, staff, parents and colleagues from the local authority will be meeting this Thursday to celebrate Geoff’s life at the school in a spectacular leaving party on Thursday March 19th where he will be treated to a very special production of This is Your Life.
There promise to be many laughs, some surprises and one or two tears as colleagues remind Geoff of some of the challenges he’s faced over the last 20 years, including relocating the whole school into a new school building and becoming the first school in the county to become a fully extended school providing childcare, after school club activities, breakfast clubs and a range of community facilities all from one site.
Chair of governors, Jo Newton, said: “Weobley Primary School has a wonderful caring ethos with everyone feeling they are part of a big supportive family. This is down to Geoff’s style of leadership and management and we shall all miss him greatly. His love of Everton FC and Welsh Rugby is well recorded and we all hope he will be able to spend more time pursuing his love of sport, including golf, during his retirement.
“Saddened though we are at Geoff’s departure, we hope to welcome Mrs Caroline Lawson to the post of head teacher from September 1st once all the paperwork is in place. Caroline is currently head teacher at Redbrook Church of England Primary School in Gloucestershire and brings with her many years’ experience of teaching in both large and small primary schools.’’
Mr Andrew Williams, currently Deputy Head, will be acting head for the summer term until Mrs Lawson’s conditional offer is confirmed and she can be released from her existing post.
