Exhibition to show how Colwall bridge will work
Posted: 15/04/2009 18:05:41
Herefordshire Council and Network Rail are to stage a joint exhibition so residents can see how the new Colwall Bridge will operate.
The exhibition is being held on Tuesday, May 5 from 3pm until 7pm in the Millennium Room of Colwall Library and officers from both the council and Network Rail will be present to explain the new road layout of the bridge and to answer questions about the overall programme of works being carried out.
Councillor Brian Wilcox, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: “We are putting on this exhibition in the Library as suggested by the Parish Council. The exhibition is aimed at explaining the layout being implemented to the people of Colwall with officers being present to answer particular concerns or queries about the project before the new bridge opens in a couple of months' time.”
Kristian Alexander, community relations manager for Network Rail, added: “We would like to thank the people of Colwall and surrounding communities for their patience during this essential work and we will continue to provide our weekly updates on progress towards opening the new bridge in June.”
The new bridge, to replace the old bridge which had fallen into disrepair, remains on programme for completion by June 26 and forthcoming works include installation of bridge parapets and highway improvements.
