Author Anna Jacobs at Honiton Library
Posted: 14/07/2009 10:21:50
Anna Jacobs, the author of more than 40 historical romances and sagas, will be sharing the secrets of her success during a talk at Honiton Library this month.
Anna, who has also written under the names Shannah Jay and Sherry-Anne Jacobs, will talk about her prolific writing career, sign copies of her books and meet readers on Wednesday 29 July.
She now mainly writes as Anna Jacobs and this month has seen her latest novel published. During her career, Anna won the Australian Romantic Book of the Year award in 2006 and was a finalist in 2007.
Anna, who lives in Wiltshire, said: "In July 2009, my 46th novel was published. It's an historical saga called Freedom's Land about groups of settlers in Western Australia in 1924. The Government gave land to ex-servicemen if they cleared it and set up dairy farms. It wasn't well planned and the settlers had it tough. This book is one of my own favourites among my stories."
Councillor Stuart Barker, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, said: "Inviting authors into our libraries is a great way to enhance reading for local communities. This is just one of the many extra events that we lay on in our libraries to encourage people to read. The event is not confined to library members, anyone who is interested can come along, and this is a great opportunity for people who are fans of Anna's work to meet her and find out what motivates her to write and how she decides what to write about. I hope it may inspire others to consider writing."
The talk at Honiton Library will be on Wednesday 29 July at 7pm. Tickets are £3 and available from Honiton Library or on 01404 42818.
