Chipping Norton neighbourhood management update

Posted: 03/10/2006 22:11:27

A/Sgt Rosemary Dilsaver gives the following update: "On Thursday 21 September, whosmybobby.co.uk, was launched by the Partnership of West Oxfordshire District Council and Thames Valley Police. The day was attended by our local MP David Cameron, Chairman of the Chipping Norton Neighbourhood Action Group James Lewis, and Mr and Mrs Peter Blake of the local community. Mr Blake is an ex-Chief Inspector who retired from the Police in 1979 and who served at Chipping Norton in 1949. This site is available through the WODC website, and gives details of the beat officers responsible for any specific area.

"Early in October, the Neighbourhood Team will be undertaking Public Engagement Days. The first of these days will be on Saturday 14 October in Chipping Norton and Charlbury. The second will be on Monday 16 October, in The Wychwoods and The Bartons. Following the Engagement Days, we will be holding Open Meetings. The first of these will be on Monday 23 October at St. Mary's Church in Charlbury, the second will be on Wednesday 25 October at Chipping Norton School and the third will be in Shipton-under-Wychwood in the New Beaconsfield Hall. All meetings will begin at 7.30 p.m.

"The SID has been deployed once again in our area, specifically in Sandford St.Martin and Ascot-under-Wychwood with varying results.

"Following on from the above, new Speed Signs are being erected around Chipping Norton advising drivers they are in a speed check area. So, when driving around the Chipping Norton area, please watch your speed!

"Park Safe, Park Legal signs will soon be in evidence in an effort to educate people with regard to the way they park their vehicles. Target areas will be schools and anywhere where there is a sudden high volume of vehicles descending upon an area, thereby causing problems of obstruction etc.

"Early in September Emma's Feast was held in fields off London Road, Chipping Norton. The event was a success even though the weather was not very kind. The Police were in attendance, and hopefully, another event will be held next year.

"The Fair again took place in the centre of Chipping Norton and in the main went without incident, however, some reports of criminal damage were received after the fair had finished.

"Finally, the Chipping Norton neighbourhood Team welcomes the arrival of Danielle Hanton as the new Communications Officer at West Oxfordshire District Council for the Partnership. We look forward to working closely with her and she is the person to contact at WODC with reference to Neighbourhood Watch."
