Nappy times in Heavitree
Posted: 05/08/2009 10:54:41
Parents thinking of making the switch to washable nappies should come along to Nappuccino coffee morning being held on Wednesday 5 August from 10am to 12noon.
The coffee morning, being held at the Scout Hut on South Lawn Terrace in Heavitree, will be a great chance for parents to find out more about the nappies and talk to other parents who already use them.
Councillor Roger Croad, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste, said: "Parents could save up to £500 by choosing real nappies over leading disposable brands and further savings can be achieved by using the same nappies for your second or third child. As well as the considerable cost savings, real nappies also benefit the environment. “
The Devon Real Nappy Project is sponsoring the coffee morning, which will run every first Wednesday of the month from now on. The event is free but donations are welcome for refreshments and toys will be supplied to keep babies and toddlers entertained. There will also be the chance to win £50 of real nappies and a host of other prizes from local businesses.
Nappy kits will be available to borrow free of charge from the coffee morning for up to a month allowing parents to try before they buy and illustrating how easy it is to make the transition from disposable nappies into cloth.
For more information on borrowing a nappy kit and the Devon Real Nappy Project phone 0800 328 8715 or visit www.recycledevon.org/reuse
