Bulbs giveaway at Moreton-in-Marsh

Free low-energy lightbulbs are up for grabs at a special advice session at Moreton in-Marsh on Thursday, November 2

The event, at Cotswold District Council's Moreton Area Centre between 10am and 12.30pm, is being held in partnership with the Gloucestershire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre.

Staff will be on hand to offer free and impartial advice to Cotswold residents on how to save energy and save money on their fuel bills.

Sarah Cantwell Moreton Area Centre Manager, said: "As the cold weather approaches, and warm summer days seem like a distant memory, many people are finding their homes difficult to keep warm and are worried about their mounting fuel bills.

"This is a great opportunity to come along and find out if your home is as energy efficient as it should be – and to claim a free low-energy lightbulb, which uses only 20 per cent of the electricity of a normal bulb."

Kaye Welfare, Advice Centre Manager said, "The best place to start looking at energy efficiency is to examine the insulation in your home. Does your home have unfilled cavity walls? If it does, it will be losing you 35% of the heat that you pay for through the walls, and having this cavity filled will save you up to 25% on your annual fuel bills

"If you go up and have a look at your loft insulation. Is it 10inches (250mm) deep? If you only have 4inches (100mm) of insulation or less, you will be losing valuable heat and money."

Kaye added, "There are many grants and discounts available to Cotswold residents to help them with these improvements, and the first step is to find out which grant is best for you. Our advice centre has a team of trained advisors waiting to help. We can even come and visit you in your home if you have a particular question about your heating system, condensation or your fuel bills."

For energy efficiency advice, or to receive a free Home Energy Check Questionnaire simply call your local Energy Efficiency Advice Centre on 0800 512 012.

Please note, one free lightbulb per visitor, while stocks last.
