Council reassures residents about party
Posted: 13/04/2010 19:08:04
Herefordshire Council is reassuring Eardisley residents that a planned birthday party will be closely monitored to ensure there is no unacceptable noise or disorder.
The council has issued a Temporary Event Notice for the birthday party at Castle House on April 17 and 18 and this allows for up to 499 people to attend.
Environmental health and licensing staff from the council, together with the police, will be on site during the event to monitor noise levels, check the numbers of public and also monitor any incidents of crime or disorder.
If there are any problems with excessive noise or if the numbers attending exceed 500, then the sale of alcohol and playing of music can be stopped. The party organisers can also be fined up to a maximum of £20,000.
Marc Willimont, Herefordshire Council’s regulatory services manager, said: “Unbeknown to the council, a similar event was held last year without having a Temporary Event Notice which generated a lot of complaints about noise.
“Following a council investigation into last year’s event, this year the organisers have taken the correct action in obtaining a Temporary Event Notice which will allow us to work closely with them to ensure there are no problems. We will also be on site during the event to monitor attendance and noise levels.
“I understand residents are concerned but I can reassure them that we will act quickly should the event cause any problems,” he added.
