Woodstock neighbourhood management update - Nov 06

Posted: 03/11/2006 16:59:12

A/Sgt Alan Robinson provides November's update for Woodstock: "Following the success of the parking leaflet in Woodstock it has now been decided to use this smaller leaflet in the surrounding villages. The larger posters that were placed last month appear to have been working in preventing bad parking and this has been measured in the reduction of calls and emails to the Neighbourhood Policing Team.

"With regards to the speeding issue, further locations have been targeted as the results of the two months of targeting have now been evaluated. Residents identified the problems with speeding in their local areas and the evaluation shows that on average 17% of drivers that are over the limit live within the neighbourhood. As reported last month the A44 is a problem of which 28% are local drivers and more disturbingly Wroslyn Road, Freeland an average of 40% are local. So think and act now, or face the consequences. The consequences being a 60 fixed penalty notice and three points on your licence, not to mention higher insurance premiums.

"To coincide with National Road Safety week and our ongoing tackling of the local speeding issue we are running a poster competition inviting youngsters aged five to 14 to enter. They need to design an A4 poster highlighting the effects of speeding in their area. The three winning designs will be displayed prominently throughout Woodstock and the surrounding areas and each winner will receive 30 of W H Smith vouchers. Runners-up will receive 20 of W H Smith vouchers. For further information visit: www.whosmybobby.co.uk and click on the competition page.

"The Neighbourhood Action Group is going from strength to strength, and as is evidenced in these articles, they are a group of Doers and not Talkers. If you think you can solve the problems in your community and want your voice to be heard why don't you join the Neighbourhood Action Group? We are an unelected body of people from all walks of society wanting to achieve a better quality of life.

"We would like to take this opportunity to report the seizure of alcohol has been very low this month. This may be due to the fact that the officers of the Neighbourhood Team are actively looking in known areas where these youths congregate and drink to discourage this practice. Obviously we will not be complacent and are mounting an Operation to prevent anti-social behaviour during Halloween but please take responsibility for your children to act in an appropriate manner.

"I would like to reiterate the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Neighbourhood Action Group have now been running for the past seven months. Do you know what they do? Do you know the name of your local officer? If you want to know the answer to any of these questions visit the following website: www.whosmybobby.co.uk. The most important question is "HAVE YOU NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE"?
