Toucan crossing to be installed on the A49 in Hereford
Posted: 23/01/2013 17:40:06
Work to install a new toucan crossing on the A49 in Hereford is due to commence on Monday 28 January 2013.
The crossing will be located between Mortimer Road and the roundabout on Grandstand Road / Priory Place and Holmer Road and work is expected to last for 12 weeks between the hours of 9am and 4pm.
During this time, there will be a traffic management system in place and any disruption to motorists is expected to be minimal. In order to make the area safer for pedestrians and cyclists and to resurface the road, night working is also planned for the week commencing Monday 18 March 2013.
The installation of the toucan crossing is part of a project to link the Great Western Way to the recently completed walking and cycling route on Holmer Road. The crossing is important to ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists trying to cross this busy section of road and drivers are thanked in advance for their cooperation and patience during this time.
The work will be carried out on behalf of Herefordshire Council by their service provider Amey.
For any queries on the proposed toucan crossing, please contact Amey’s highway supervisor on 01432 845946.
