Free lunchtime seminar on smoke-free legislation

Posted: 08/01/2007 17:05:54

All workplaces will have to be smoke-free indoors when the Health Act 2006 comes into force July 1st 2007. This major piece of public health law is designed to protect employees from the serious health risks of second-hand smoke. There will be penalties enforced for allowing smoking inside your premises and work vehicles.

· What are the implications for your business?
· How can you help staff and customers through this change?
· What support is available for smokers wishing to quit?

You are welcome to attend a free lunchtime seminar, 12.30 – 1.30 pm to answer all your concerns.
6th March - Chipping Norton Town Hall (Lower Hall)
9th March - Langdale Hall, Witney

Speaker: Xanthe Bevis, Smoke-Free Workplaces Specialist from the Oxfordshire Smoking Advice Service

The seminar is hosted by West Oxfordshire District Council working with Oxfordshire PCT, Business Link and all of Oxfordshire’s local authorities. A representative from West Oxfordshire District Council local Environmental Health team will also be on hand to take questions about regulation.

To book your place call Oxfordshire Smoking Advice Service on 01865 226663

The seminar will cover:
· Health risks of smoking
· Dangers of secondhand smoke
· Impacts of smoking on business
· Health Act 2006: Smoke-Free Premises and Vehicles
· Reasons to go smoke-free
· Positive Experiences
· Smoking Policies
· Support for Staff
