Scheme To Strengthen Trecarne Bridge

Scheme To Strengthen Trecarne Bridge Near Helstone Begins On 22nd January

Works to strengthen Trecarne Bridge, near Helstone, will begin on 22nd January.

Trecarne Bridge, a two span reinforced concrete and granite beam structure, crosses the River Camel on an unclassified road between Trecarne and Watergate and is located in the River Camel Special Area of Conservation and the Camel & Allen Area of Great Landscape Value.

The granite beam span is to be strengthened by removing material above the beams and casting a reinforced concrete slab to increase the capacity of the structure to carry 40 tonne vehicles. On completion the external appearance of the bridge will be retained.

The works will be carried out under a complete road closure of approximately five weeks. The County Council contractor CORMAC will carry out the works.

A signed diversion route will be setup via Tresinney and Kenningstockmill.
