Poster competition for youth PACT

Posted: 19/01/2007 16:04:23

An iPod and cash prizes are on offer in a competition for youngsters to design a poster for the relaunch of Matchborough Youth PACT (Partners and Communities Together) in Redditch.

Police and partner organisations aim to relaunch the PACT meetings at Arrow Vale High School after half term and want a Youth PACT poster to attract and enthuse young people in the area.

The competition is open to all students and young people in Matchborough and there will be three age groupings: four to nine years; 10-13 year-olds and 14 to 19 years old. The overall first prize will be an ipod and the winner of each age group will also receive £25 in high street vouchers of their choice.

Entries can be handed in at schools, one stop shops, at Redditch Town Hall addressed to Councillor Juliet Brunner, or to Pc Paul Downes at Redditch Police Station in Grove Street. The closing date for entries is Friday, February 9.

Judges will be the chair of Redditch Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, Sue Hanley, and Redditch police District Commander, Chief Inspector Angela Burnet.

Pc Downes said the competition was designed to boost interest in the Youth PACT which would also benefit from the school council recently set up at Arrow Vale, which would be used as a point of contact and to provide feedback from meetings.
“We want the poster to be more attractive to a younger audience so that they will want to contribute and have their say.

Councillor Brunner added: “We hope the competition will encourage young people to get involved in local issues which are important to them.”
