Leisure Pool Re-opens with a Splash!
Posted: 19/01/2007 22:48:34
Swimmers are set to start the year with a splash as the leisure pool at Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre, Kidderminster, re-opens to the public on Saturday 20th January 2007 following a major make-over.
The half a million pound refurbishment project - which has been funded by Wyre Forest District Council in partnership with DC Leisure Management - is being launched in two phases with the Health Suite opening in mid February.
Leisure lovers of all ages will be able to enjoy the new waterslides, fresh modern colour scheme, and bright new changing rooms. The new look health and fitness suite houses a sauna and steam room.
Councillor Nathan Desmond, Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services said, "This is an exciting time for The Glades. We've already had positive feedback from customers who've seen the work in progress and I am sure when phase 2 is launched, the centre will be able to compete with the best leisure facilities in the country. We are delighted to continue working successfully with our Partners at DC Leisure."
Stuart Booton, Contracts Manager at Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre said,
"It's great to be part of the re-launch of The Glades. The dedicated hard work of our team at the centre, working alongside the Council, means we continue to provide a high quality community leisure experience for the community. The Health and Fitness suite, Dance Studio, Sports Arena, Squash Courts, Training Room, Sun Beds and Café/Bar facilities have been open as normal during the works through November and December and we look forward to welcoming old friends as well as newcomers to the centre."
Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre was designed and built by Wyre Forest District Council. When the Princess of Wales officially opened its doors in 1986 it was one of the first of its kind in the country. Now it attracts more than 300,000 visitors a year.
