Sir Chris Bonington to address business leaders
Posted: 22/01/2007 14:27:26
Akumen Business Management Systems are tackling the South West face of Everest with Sir Chris Bonington as part of the grand launch of their innovative new product, "Managing Direction" and all without leaving the comfort of Exeter's Sandy Park conference centre.
Sir Chris is the headline speaker at this inspiring all-day event, and will be taking delegates through the climb he carried out in 1975, with the difference being that he will present delegates with the leadership problems he encountered and will be asking guests to solve the problems themselves.
The basic subject of the event will be planning and leadership - focussing on the levels of planning required for a challenge as breathtakingly daring and dangerous as the ascent of Everest and the leadership skills such an event necessitates. Akumen Managing Partner, Paul Howarth, says of the event, "It's an exciting event for us. Our new product focuses on leadership and planning, making Sir Chris the ideal speaker for the event - few people have developed their leadership and planning skills to the degree that he has."
Sean Taylor will also be speaking at the event of the planning required for his participation in the 2007 Marathon Des Sables - one of the most gruelling foot races on earth, covering 150 miles over the course of six days in the Sahara desert. Careful planning is needed for this event, where participants are required to carry everything they will need over the course of the race, including food and other supplies vital to survival in the 120 degree Fahrenheit conditions. Mr Taylor will be taking part to raise money for World Christian Ministries, helping to fund the building of a childrens' home in Coimbatore, India.
The Akumen evening promises to be informative, entertaining and inspirational. Tickets are available via Akumen's website - www.akumen.co.uk at a cost of £75+ VAT, with all profit from the event going to the charity World Christian Ministries.
25th January, 9.30am - 4.30pm Sandypark Conference Centre Exeter
