Attempted Distraction Burglary In Cam

Posted: 23/01/2007 15:29:24

Police are appealing the public for witnesses after two men attempted to steal property from the house of a man in Cam during the afternoon of Monday January 22.

The incident occurred between 3.25pm and 3.35pm, when a man called at the home of an 85 year-old man in Hopton Road.

The man told the victim he was checking a water pipeline in the area and asked to be let in to the property to check pipes.

Allowed inside the property the man turned on one of the kitchen taps before asking the victim to come and view pipes outside the address.

At this point the victim noticed a second male in the rear garden.

Both men then apologised to the victim saying that they had come to the wrong house. They left the area in a silver saloon car.

Both of the males were white and aged between 21 and 24. One was around 5ft 1ins tall with a slim build and a thin face.

He spoke with a slight Irish accent and wore a grey jacket and a hat.

The second male was also around 5ft 1ins tall with a slim build. He was clean-shaven with a round face and a pale complexion.

He was wearing a grey woollen hat, a grey rain jacket and blue jeans.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the men, particularly parents who were picking their children up from a nearby school at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call 0845 090 1234, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 368 of January 22.
